Former Acting Attorney General Sally Yates just testified before the Senate today and said former FBI Director James Comey went rogue.

On today’s Jay Sekulow Live, we discussed former Acting Attorney General Sally Yates’ testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee. During her testimony, while being questioned by Chairman Lindsey Graham, Yates confirmed that “yes,” former FBI Director Comey went rogue.

This is the second hearing that the Senate Judiciary Committee has conducted on Crossfire Hurricane and the potential wrongdoing that occurred. There’s also a U.S. attorney looking at “Russiagate.” There’s another U.S. attorney looking at unmaskings separately from that.

In the first hearing, it was former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein testifying, and now today Sally Yates appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee which is chaired by Sen. Graham. This testimony is important because she was in that January 5th, 2017, Oval Office meeting with President Obama, Vice President Biden, former FBI Director James Comey, and other key officials discussing Lt. General Flynn.

Sally Yates supposedly said that she had no idea what the meeting was about. Today, she was asked about former FBI Director Comey sending FBI agents to question General Flynn.

That’s when Senator Graham and Sally Yates had this exchange:

Senator Graham: You didn’t authorize the interview. As a matter of fact, you wanted to go to the White House and tell them about the problem, didn’t you?

Sally Yates: That’s right. I thought that that was the more immediate issue . . . .

Senator Graham: And when you heard about the interview, you got upset, didn’t you?

Sally Yates: I was upset that Director Comey didn’t coordinate that with us and acted unilaterally. Yes, I was.

Senator Graham: Okay. Did Comey go rogue?

Sally Yates: You could use that term. Yes.

My dad, ACLJ Chief Counsel Jay Sekulow, gave his view on that when he said:

So there you have the former Acting Attorney General of the United States, Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates, saying that, in fact, former FBI Director James Comey went rogue in the way he handled this setup of this interview. This is just the beginning of her testimony and there’s a lot of other admissions, including admissions about FISA warrants and FISA abuse. I think we’ve got to be clear here. What do we have at the outset of this? A key admission. What is that key admission? He went rogue. Then you’re going to find out that they did not follow protocols and she makes a statement saying something like, that’s an understatement. That gives you a little bit of the tone of what’s happening here, of what’s been uncovered.

Keep in mind, Sally Yates is no fan of President Trump. This is someone who became Acting Attorney General for President Trump and then refused to enforce the travel ban, which the Supreme Court has said is constitutional. She was fired over that. She was an Obama Administration holdover. But what we hear time and time again, and I think it is very clear, is that former FBI Director James Comey was the ringleader of the wrongdoing.
