Today we’ve learned that a top FBI agent has resigned after it was revealed that he actively shielded Hunter Biden, the controversial son of President Joe Biden.

After reportedly “running interference in the investigation of Hunter Biden” FBI Assistant Special Agent in Charge Timothy Thibault unexpectedly announced his retirement this past Friday and was walked out of the building.

Agent Thibault, who ran the Washington, D.C., field office has been accused of political bias in handling the investigation of the infamous Hunter Biden laptop. Thibault also handled the elector’s investigation in 2020 which focused on President Donald Trump. But you’ve really got to look all the way back to 2016 to see all of Thibault’s greatest anti-Trump hits.

That year he traveled overseas with Bruce and Nelly Ohr when Nelly worked for Fusion GPS, the political consulting organization that was hired by Hillary Clinton to spy on President Trump during the 2016 campaign, which led to the discredited Steele Dossier and the Crossfire Hurricane investigation. And this man was put in charge of investigating Joe Biden’s son?

And now, at a time when we’ve told you there are multiple FBI whistleblowers coming out of the woodwork to call out DOJ corruption inside the FBI, and Senators like Chuck Grassley are beginning to demand answers, this high ranking 25-year agent decides it’s time for him to step down. Curious timing, at the very least. It does make you wonder, if he is actually retiring, or has he been “retired” to get him out of the picture now that the FBI’s chickens may be coming home to roost.

My dad, ACLJ Chief Counsel Jay Sekulow, cut through the smokescreen and laid out exactly what this Deep State FBI agent was really up for the last six years, if not longer:

So here’s what you have, and this is really important to understand. You have a pattern now over at least a six-year period of election interference by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. You had it with the Hillary Clinton emails, when they were making those announcements which they weren’t supposed to make. You had it with the 2016 and the Steele dossier – which remember, the Ohrs, Bruce and Nelly Ohr – he was then the fourth-ranking Department of Justice lawyer – they tried to work on, she worked on, the whole Ukraine dossier, the Steele dossier, that was an information go-between. So was Bruce Ohr at the Department of Justice.

So they were involved in this kind of election interference, not kind of – this election interference – back in 2016. Now you’ve got the FBI doing a 2020 investigation . . . the agent, this is Assistant Special Agent – this is the assistant in charge of the Washington, D.C., field office which is where these investigations are coming out of – Hunter Biden’s info he tries to suppress and gives a very direct attempt when he tries to actually physically close the files out at the FBI field office. Then he’s part of the team with one other agent that opens up the 2020 investigation of former President Trump and some of his associates, and this is the agent that’s involved in all of that.

So he’s suppressing the Hunter Biden stuff, launching an investigation of the former President, and then of course is suppressing the evidence on the Hunter Biden stuff before the election in 2020. You’ve got to look at all of this, folks, and realize this is the same FBI that had an agent, Peter Strzok, sending biased text messages to Lisa Page, an FBI lawyer. You had Clinesmith, an FBI lawyer, signing false documents to the FISA court. Look at all this in totality, folks. It is unbelievable what is happening.

One way you can be sure that these are legitimate red flags and not just MAGA conspiracies or fake news, is that FBI Director Christopher Wray has even addressed it publicly, calling the reports that one of his agents was covering for Hunter Biden and interfering in an official investigation “deeply troubling.”

ACLJ Senior Advisor for National Security and Foreign Policy Ric Grenell, who served as Acting Director of National Intelligence, called out FBI Director Wray for his disingenuous surprise at this revelation about Thibault. According to Ric, who served as Acting Director of National Intelligence, Wray knew what was going on all along, and only addressed when the lights turned on him and the public began losing faith in the FBI:

Look this has been going on for a very long time and let’s be very clear about this. Chris Wray has been the head of the FBI for a very long time. He’s known these individuals are a problem. He did nothing until the heat got too much. Remember Chris Wray knew that FBI agents were politicizing investigations and he didn’t care. What now is happening is the public, Republicans, are putting the pressure on him, and Chris Wray is responding to the public pressure. He’s not responding to cleaning up the FBI. If that was his goal, there would be a whole bunch of people who would lose their jobs for politicizing investigations and weaponizing the FBI.

You can have your own political views and still be an FBI agent. What you cannot do is let your political beliefs dictate how you handle investigations. Agents are obligated to remain politically neutral and only let the law determine your actions. This Agent Thibault clearly did not do that. The question is, who else knew and was involved?

Today’s full Sekulow broadcast includes more discussion of Thibault’s resignation from the FBI and what this says about the state of the FBI and the reports from whistleblowers, as well as more analysis from Ric Grenell as to what must be done in order to restore American trust in our FBI.
