Another Blow to Jack Smith – Judge Responds
Special Counsel Jack Smith’s public feud with Judge Aileen Cannon, the judge in President Donald Trump’s classified documents case, continues to intensify. Many on the far Left want Smith to try to remove Judge Cannon from the case. Further, Judge Cannon also just denied Trump’s motion to dismiss the case based on the Presidential Records Act, but will this appease Smith?
The long-simmering tension came to a boil this week in a court filing in which Smith’s team sharply questioned the judge’s willingness to entertain a legal theory that Trump has advanced in a bid to dismiss the case. Prosecutors called the theory “pure fiction,” and their submission featured tartly worded threats to appeal any adverse decision. They also demanded that Cannon decide quickly to prevent her from hamstringing the prosecution on the eve of trial.
Cannon shot back Thursday, revealing her own frustrations with Smith’s team, saying in a prickly order that the demand for a hurried decision was “unprecedented and unjust.”
Remember that this case relates to the classified documents obtained during the FBI’s raid at Mar-a-Lago. And we have another example of unjust lawfare being conducted against President Trump. The far Left is using the justice system to try and freeze him out.
Smith is running out of time, and he doesn’t want Trump’s legal team to have any input on jury instructions, which is outrageous. If the only jury instructions given imply guilt, then we no longer have a U.S. court system where everyone is innocent until proven guilty.
The legal system is not the only place the far Left is targeting those who disagree with them. Now the IRS is targeting the middle class in their audits. Despite the IRS’s strategic plan to primarily target individuals making at least $400,000, a new Wall Street Journal report revealed 63% of new audits target those with an income of under $200,000.
The IRS is not focusing on the top 1%. Instead, they are going to raise taxes by disproportionately focusing their audit on the middle class. And they planned to hire an army of agents to complete their audits.
The only good news is their recruiting effort has fallen way short. They have only been able to hire 34 agents, despite their goal of hiring 3,700 agents in the first year. How should Americans respond? We should be fighting back for the billions of dollars that the far Left has funneled in this tax enforcement scheme.
In breaking news, the CIA warns Iran will attack Israel within 48 hours as revenge for a consulate strike. ACLJ Senior Advisor for National Security and Foreign Policy Ric Grenell joined us to break down multiple intelligence agencies’ roles in keeping America safe:
Why do the American people pay taxes – hard-earned taxes – in order to have intelligence agencies? The answer is that our intel and all the collections that we do is designed to keep America safer. It’s designed to give public policy officials who are making the choices about our safety. It’s designed to give them the best information possible so that public policy officials can react and make sure that they’re keeping America safe. . . . When you have information that there is an attack coming or a plan of action, the United States of America needs to react. So, if we know that Iran is going to attack our ally, Israel, we better be doing something about it. And from this report, I’m not even sure that people are taking it that seriously.
In fact, Israel is being blamed for provoking the Iranian attack. And the far Left will always want to blame Israel, but in the Trump Administration, sanctions were working, and we didn’t have this kind of pressure from Iran. But Biden unleashed money that is now being used in the form of war against our allies.
