The American Center for Law and Justice is urging people to cross partisan lines and call on Congress to block the Obama administration's plan to transfer control of the Internet to a "multinational" body.

In a surprise announcement two weeks ago, the Commerce Department signaled it wants to give up American oversight of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), which provides vital oversight on domain names and web addresses. The American Center for Law and Justice is concerned that those key functions would be handed over to a multinational body that could end up giving control to the United Nations – or even to countries with repressive regimes, such as Russia, China, or Islamic countries.

There is no reason, says the ACLJ, to trust that dictators from those regimes will protect the freedom that currently exist on the Internet. . . .
