Were pleased to finally hear something from the White House about efforts to bring back the troubling Fairness Doctrine.   As you know, there are many Democrats in Congress who are calling for the regulatory measure to be reinstated - a move that would effectively muzzle radio broadcasters - including Christian broadcasters.

Now comes a statement from the White House:  As the president stated during the campaign, he does not believe the Fairness Doctrine should be reinstated, White House spokesman Ben LaBolt told FOXNews.com.

While this is encouraging, I want you to know that we will remain vigilant and continue to work to oppose the return of the Fairness Doctrine.

As you know, we maintain that a return to the Fairness Doctrine would be an unconstitutional move that violates the First Amendment.  And as you also know, there are several ways this disturbing measure can get reinstated:  Congress can act, and so can the FCC.  We will continue to work to ensure that the free speech afforded to Christian broadcasters is protected.  And we will continue to support Congressional efforts to pass the Broadcaster Freedom Act, legislation that would prohibit the return of the Fairness Doctrine.  Whats so encouraging to us is that more than 230,000 Americans already have signed on to our petition urging passage of this legislation.

This remains an important issue and well follow developments closely.
