A shocking new New York Times poll just revealed that 64% of Democrats polled would say to President Joe Biden: Don’t even run in 2024.

Think about that, it’s not just 64% of all Americans. The New York Times, which is by no means a traditionally conservative media outlet, reports that out of the 849 polled, 64% of registered Democrats oppose President Biden seeking re-election in 2024. Even with a 4% margin for error, that is a large number – more than half. That does not bode well for the sitting President of the United States.

And the opposition reportedly came primarily from voters under the age of 30, with an overwhelming 94% of them saying they want a new nominee. This is a key group, particularly for the Democrats. Even they seem to be embarrassed by the incompetence of this Administration. They’re actually acknowledging that President Biden is a failure. Although what worries me is that I can’t help but think many of them feel he’s not progressive enough.

As my son Logan pointed out, even just last week, liberal talk-show host Stephen Colbert was encouraging Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the self-proclaimed socialist and co-sponsor of the Leftist Green New Deal, to run for the Democrat ticket.

The last time I remember an incumbent President facing a challenge to their re-election from within their own party was President Jimmy Carter in 1979. President Carter’s approval was so low that fellow Democrat Senator Ted Kennedy ran against him in the primary for the 1980 Presidential election – and Kennedy almost won.

It’s worth noting that at the time President Carter’s approval rating was only 33%. President Biden is currently hovering right around 34%. According to the New York Times report:

Only 13 percent of American voters said the nation was on the right track — the lowest point in Times polling since the depths of the financial crisis more than a decade ago.

What’s concerning is that, while President Biden is currently facing pressure from his own party, the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation Christopher Wray has just labeled China as “game-changing of all threats” to our national security. At a joint press conference with Ken McCallum, Director of MI5, the British counterpart to our FBI, both men acknowledged Chinese threats of spying, hacking, and data harvesting through apps like TikTok, which is being utilized by millions of Americans every day.

ACLJ Senior Advisor for National Security and Foreign Policy and former Acting Director of National Intelligence Ric Grenell offered his expert analysis of China:

First of all let me just tell you, as a former Director of National Intelligence, China is a crisis. Russia has always been a problem, but for anyone who tries to pretend like Russia is a bigger problem for the United States than China, they are literally not seeing the intelligence. China is a crisis. We’ve known this for many years. My frustration with [Director] Chris Wray is that he’s been very slow to focus on China. As you know, he has put a lot of resources into this phony Russia investigation, calling Donald Trump a Russian asset. The FBI has literally been focusing on the wrong crisis. And so what I would argue is when Chris Wray says that we can’t arrest our way out, or we can’t tariff our way out, or we can’t be proactive enough, he’s wrong. Of course, we can, we’re the United States of America. What we have to do is get focused on China, and act in big, bold ways like Donald Trump was doing.

I certainly agree in that it truly feels like Dir. Wray is just throwing his hands up as if to say “There’s nothing we can do about it.” It’s such a bogus sentiment, but sadly it’s becoming the clarion call of the Biden Administration. “It’s not our fault. There’s nothing we can do.” President Biden and his team continue to portray weakness to the world.

Even more alarming, Ric added that there are some in our government that have essentially resigned themselves to simply rolling over for China rather than standing up for the needs of Americans:

Let me be very clear, there is a whole group of people in Washington D.C. who think that the rise of China into global domination is inevitable. Let me repeat that again: there’s a group of people who believe we cannot stop China from being the global power that they are, and therefore we should work with them or manage them. I absolutely disagree. We are the United States of America. When we get focused on a problem, we solve it.

We have a problem with China, and guess what, let me tell you: I’ve traveled the world, I’ve worked at the U.N. for eight years, the world knows that China is a problem. The Eastern Europeans, the Balkan nations, the Europeans, Middle East, Africa, they know that all of the things that China comes in at the beginning to promise never materialize. They say they’re going to build these new projects and all they do is ask for Visas, bring their own people in, and they take the money. Everyone around the world knows this. Chris Wray seems like the last one to realize what’s happening with China.

We completely agree. I hope that the Biden Administration takes this as the wake-up call it is – before it’s too late.
