U.S. intelligence confirms a report that a foreign enemy is actively interfering in the 2024 presidential election, trying to ensure that President Trump loses. Will America’s enemies try to manipulate the election for Vice President Kamala Harris?

The Wall Street Journal reports:

Iran is seeking to harm Donald Trump’s presidential campaign in covert online influence operations, fearing a return to power by the Republican nominee would inflame relations with Washington, U.S. intelligence officials said Monday.

U.S. spy agencies have “observed Tehran working to influence the presidential election, probably because Iranian leaders want to avoid” increased tensions with the U.S., an official with the Office of the Director of National Intelligence said during a press briefing.

So Iran has been working on trying to sway the upcoming presidential election. Its operatives are using “vast webs of online personas and propaganda mills to spread disinformation.” This continues a troubling pattern of foreign enemies using online activities to directly undermine American politics.

Upon hearing the topic of today’s show, you probably had a flashback to 2016. Is Special Counsel Robert Mueller coming back for more of the Russian hoax?

Unsurprisingly, the Wall Street Journal’s report quoting numerous intelligence officials isn’t really making the rounds on mainstream news networks. Imagine if the Russians were undermining Harris’ bid for the White House. The mainstream media would be covering it nonstop. Everything would be “Russia, Russia, Russia” all over again.

Some might push back and ask: How do you know Russia isn’t trying to get Trump reelected? However, if that were so, why did Russia work with the U.S. in a prisoner swap – a move that will make VP Harris look good? Though many are applauding the Biden Administration right now, the concessions for the deal could endanger future Americans. On the surface, it looks like a sweetheart deal for Russia that frees terrorist hitmen.

ACLJ Senior Advisor for National Security and Foreign Policy Ric Grenell reacted to the news of Russia’s prisoner swap being a sign of who Putin favors in the White House:

Putin wanted Joe Biden because he was predictable, and someone who’s more predictable is Kamala Harris. And so this gift from Vladimir Putin to the Biden-Harris Administration and the Harris campaign is . . . a clear indication that Vladimir Putin wants Kamala Harris because she’s weaker and she’s an easier opponent. So they’re giving this gift in the middle of the campaign because it looks like the weak candidates, Biden and Kamala, are going to just celebrate this and not think about the slippery slope. Putin is laughing all the way. . . . I’ve heard from journalists for the last eight years that somehow Vladimir Putin was interfering in our elections, and they were distraught about it. Well, look what just happened today. Vladimir Putin is interfering in our elections and literally celebrating this gift that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris signed off on.

So knowing that Iran and other countries might be distilling fake news should keep you on high alert. When you see headlines on Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), etc., do your due diligence to confirm the source’s veracity. It could be disinformation coming from Iran or somewhere else.

ACLJ Senior Counsel CeCe Heil joined our show to talk about the ACLJ’s advocacy on behalf of suffering Christians. Through the European Centre for Law and Justice (ECLJ), our international affiliate with consultative status at the U.N., we submit Universal Periodic Reviews (UPR) to the United Nations Human Rights Council. We review human rights violations in countries where Christians are persecuted for their faith and submit our recommendations to the U.N. Human Rights Council.

A recent UPR involves a Christian woman, Irene Ibrahim Shehata, who was tragically abducted and forced to convert to Islam in Egypt. You can find more details about Irene’s nightmare here.

Tragically, Irene’s abduction is not an isolated incident. Christian women in Egypt are often kidnapped, “married” to Muslim men, and then forced to convert to Islam. Their national IDs are then changed to Muslim, and their stories are forgotten. State Security not only refuses to rescue these women but also seemingly assists in the targeting of Christian women.

At the U.N., we demanded that Egypt find and free Christians like Irene. We also demanded that Egypt take measures to stop the forced conversion of Christian women.
