It’s outrageous. Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee “Shifty” Adam Schiff now says that whistleblower testimony is NOT NEEDED to impeach the President.
On today’s Jay Sekulow Live we discussed Rep. Adam Schiff’s comments on Face the Nation stating the whistleblower does not need to testify to impeach the President. This so-called impeachment inquiry is getting to the level of absurdity.
Here’s what Chairman Schiff said to Margaret Brennan, on Face the Nation:
“Given that we already have the call record, we don't need the whistleblower who wasn't on the call to tell us what took place during the call. We have the best evidence of that. We do want to make sure that we identify other evidence that is pertinent to the withholding of the military support, the effort to cover this up by hiding this in a classified computer system.
We want to make sure that we uncover the full details about the conditionality of either the military aid or that meeting with Ukraine's president. It may not be necessary to take steps that might reveal the whistleblower's identity to do that. And we're going to make sure we protect that whistleblower.”
Chairman Schiff is pushing this absurd idea that they don’t need to hear any testimony, written or oral, from the whistleblower. It would mean that the Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee would have no chance to ask questions of the whistleblower in person or in writing. No cross examination.
If you are conducting an impeachment inquiry, although they really aren’t because they haven’t called a vote, you are supposed to conduct as open and transparent process as possible for the American people. We are supposed to be able to see the reasons why they want to remove a duly elected President.
Schiff also said in the same interview that he wanted to conduct the process like a grand jury proceeding, which is extremely secretive and not at all transparent. That is also not constitutional. This is absolutely not a grand jury proceeding. This proceeding should be as open and transparent as possible. What Adam Schiff is doing is abusing the Constitution and the law.
Impeachment does not work that way. It is supposed to work with both sides, Republicans and Democrats, asking questions of those that brought the main subject of impeachment before the Members of Congress, even though it’s come in such a bogus way.
Adam Schiff is afraid to have this whistleblower testify, even in writing because the whistleblower would be asked questions like:
Those are the questions that Adam Schiff and the House Leadership are afraid of. The American people deserve to know the answers.
