Radio Recap: Just Two Months Away from First Democrat Debate

It‘s actually shocking, but we are just over two months away from the first Democrat Presidential debate. The first Democrat Primary debates will be held over two nights on June 26-27 in Miami.

On today’s broadcast, we discussed the Democrat candidates so far and provided analysis of who looks like they could even be a serious contender against President Trump in the 2020 election.

So far perhaps the one with the best chance, or at least the most support, could be Bernie Sanders. He certainly has an activated base. He’s also the number one fundraiser so far. Sanders, a self-identified socialist, continues to run on the free healthcare promise.

Which, as Sanders himself admitted last night when he appeared on a Fox News Town Hall, isn’t actually free at all, as we would all pay for it with higher taxes.

“Look, healthcare is not free. . . . It’s going to be free at the point when you use it.”

This is just incoherent double-talk. It means we’ll all have to pay for everyone’s medical care whether we need it or not. Sanders has also suggested support for tax plans of anywhere from 52% - 70%.

There are a lot of other Democrat candidates currently in the spotlight like Pete Buttigieg, the 37-year-old mayor of South Bend, Indiana. Or Senators Kamala Harris and Corey Booker, and wild cards like Beto O’Rourke who lost the Texas Senatorial race to former Presidential candidate Ted Cruz. Thus far, none of them really seem to have shown that they have the experience to run a country, or offer a true challenge to President Trump.

We’ve barely heard from Sens. Elizabeth Warren or Amy Klobuchar recently.

There’s also still the “will he or won’t he” question hanging over former Vice President Joe Biden. Biden certainly has the political pedigree, but at this point it’s unclear if he’s even going to run. And if he does, there seems to be a question as to whether his own party will support him. Biden has run for President twice before and did not garner nearly enough support.

One thing is certain, it’s going to be very interesting to watch how the Democrat race unfolds.
