A Digital Content Copywriter proficient in digital, legal and policy writing with a passion for the ACLJ’s mission.
We are looking for a creative Copywriter to write clear and concise copy for a host of digital platforms including: email advocacy, petition and fundraising campaigns, web and social media, and long and short form editorial content – effectively communicating in the voice of the ACLJ’s brands.
The copywriter should assist the ACLJ’s growing digital advocacy team. Clearly communicate the ACLJ’s legal work to our members and the general public through readable, yet legally sound compelling copy. Analyze and synthesize legal opinions and memos, converting these documents into long and short form digestible content. Create copy that convincingly builds a case for the ACLJ’s legal advocacy on a number of critical issues including the persecution of Christians, protection of the unborn, exposing and stopping government corruption, and defending constitutional liberties, free speech, and religious liberty.
The copywriter should communicate the ACLJ’s legal work in a way that both advances our advocacy and allows our members to clearly understand the value and importance of our work. Help expand the ACLJ’s ability to communicate with its members digitally, including expanding the donor base of the ACLJ to further its mission opportunities. The copywriter should be able to quickly and effectively enhance new digital strategies by providing copy that effectively moves and converts the reader to action. Draft in the voice of the ACLJ’s brands for consistency across all platforms. Quickly accomplish a large variety of tasks in a fast paced, high energy, political war room type environment.
Some specific duties may include:
- Draft blogs for several ACLJ attorneys and ACLJ.org staff posts.
- Draft emails for the ACLJ’s 1 million email subscribers.
- Master the ability to properly emulate different voices to create digital content for ACLJ Chief Counsel Jay Sekulow, ACLJ Executive Director Jordan Sekulow, and general ACLJ media.
- Draft speeches, submissions, and memos for senior attorneys on a host of global
- Help oversee, create, and expand digital content for the ACLJ’s BeHeard
- Turn complex legal issues into content our members can understand through long and short form articles.
- Edit additional ACLJ attorneys’ blogs into properly formatted, legally sound, and clearly communicated digital articles for posting on social media and ACLJ web platforms.
- Write clear, attractive copy in several different distinct voices.
- Collaborate with designers, PR and other professionals on large- and small-scale marketing projects (e.g. petition campaigns and landing pages).
- Conduct high-quality research in order to create legally accurate content.
- Edit and proofread copy as needed.
- Use SEO principles to maximize copy’s reach.
- Effectively assist in sourcing related images and other content.
Required Competencies
- Demonstrated copy writing and editing abilities.
- General technical skills and aptitude, with the ability to learn the digital platforms in use by the ACLJ’s digital team.
- Ability to prioritize in a high-pressured environment.
- Skills to communicate effectively with others.
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to multi-task, manage workload and accountability, and deliver results to meet competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- A strong understanding of web development languages including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Comfortable with at least one back-end language (examples: PHP, C#, Node.js, etc)
- Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases.
A Graphic Designer who is proficient in design for print and web with a passion for the ACLJ’s mission.
The ACLJ is looking for a graphic designer to develop, design, and create digital graphics for the ACLJ’s growing digital platform. The graphic designer will work alongside a social media, video, and print team creating still and moving graphics that effectively communicate the voice and mission of the ACLJ’s brands.
The graphic designer should visually communicate the ACLJ’s legal work in a way that both advances our advocacy and allows our members to clearly understand the value and importance of our work. Help expand the ACLJ’s ability to visually communicate with its members digitally, including expanding the donor base of the ACLJ to further its mission opportunities. The graphic designer should be able to quickly and effectively enhance new digital strategies by providing still and motion imagery that effectively moves and compels the reader to action. The graphic designer should be able to visually communicate in the many voices of the ACLJ’s brands for consistency across all platforms, quickly accomplish a large variety of tasks in a fast paced, high energy, political war room type environment.
Some specific duties may include:
- Design and contribute to ACLJ’s print mail marketing program
- Create original memes for social media platform
- Create short form motion graphics for social media platform
- Edit and manipulate original photographs to create new content for ACLJ platforms
- Contribute to and/or edit graphics for web content
- ACLJ’s main web properties
- Microsites such as Squarespace and Wix platform
- Project manage several different digital projects at once
- Create graphic and text heavy, visually stunning annual report
- Curate relevant stock images for digital use
- Effectively assist in sourcing related images, video and other digital content
Required Competencies
- Bachelor’s Degree in graphic design or related
- 1-2 yr experience working in digital media
- Demonstrated graphic design abilities
- General technical skills and aptitude, with the ability to learn the digital platforms in use by the ACLJ’s digital team
- Ability to prioritize in a high-pressured environment
- Skills to communicate effectively with others
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to multi-task, manage workload and accountability, and deliver results to meet competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
