Every year, our nation celebrates the American flag by singling out one day in June for commemoration. This started all the way back in 1885 when a school teacher in Wisconsin encouraged his class to honor the flag’s day of birth. In the subsequent years, this teacher sent numerous proposals to Congress – urging the body to have this day nationally recognized.
