(Washington, DC) The American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ), focusing on constitutional law, today called on the Senate Judiciary Committee to vote tomorrow as scheduled to confirm Judge Alito and urged the full Senate to give the nominee an up-or-down vote by the end of the week.

It is time for this process to conclude with an up-or-down vote on Judge Alito without further delay, said Jay Sekulow, Chief Counsel of the ACLJ, who is working to support the Judge Alito nomination.   The fact is that Judge Alito is not only well qualified for a seat on the Supreme Court but deserves an up-or-down vote on his nomination without any further political stonewalling.  With the Judiciary Committee poised for tomorrows confirmation vote, its important that the full Senate give proper consideration and speedy action on Judge Alitos confirmation and that means an up-or-down vote by the end of the week.  Its unfortunate that this nominee has been subjected to a political tug-of-war thats resulted in detours and delays.  Judge Alito has the votes to be confirmed as the next Associate Justice of the Supreme Court.  The Senate needs to act now.

Sekulow says the ACLJ is airing radio advertisements urging the Senate to give Judge Alito an cup-or-down vote without further delay.  The American Center for Law and Justice focuses on constitutional law and is based in Washington, D.C.
