No Time to Be Politically-Correct About Terrorism

President Obama is headed down the wrong road.  In his effort to re-define America's war on terrorism - it seems the President is doing all he can to appease the Muslim world.  For years, since 9-11, the United States has spoken clearly and forcefully about terrorism and preventing further attacks on America.

The National Security Strategy, a document that previously outlined the Bush Doctrine of preventive war, currently states: "The struggle against militant Islamic radicalism is the great ideological conflict of the early years of the 21st century."

Now, there are reports that President Obama wants to change the way we talk about terrorists - implementing a politically-correct vocabulary.  He wants the term "Islamic radicalism" dropped from National Security documents. That means eliminating the use of the term all together - no more mention of  "Islamic radicalism."

Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT) understand what's at stake.  He correctly labelled this effort to remove the "Islamic radicalism" term as "absolutely Orwellian and counterproductive."

Sen. Lieberman told FOX News that he had sent a letter to the president's top counterterrorism adviser, John Brennan, saying in part: "The failure to identify our enemy for what it is, violent Islamist extremism, is offensive and contradicts thousands of years of accepted military and intelligence doctrine to know your enemy."

Sen. Lieberman, chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, said the letter was the product of him growing "so frustrated" with the White House over the terminology issue. He said the Defense Department omitted references to "violent Islamist extremism" in its report on the massacre at Fort Hood.  "Clearly, from the record, [Nidal Malik Hasan] was motivated by Islamist extremism, and they didn't mention that term there," Lieberman said.

The President may want to change the words - but the fact remains: militant Islamic radicalism is a real threat to America.

Stand with the American Center for Law and Justice and send a strong message to President Obama.  Don't play games with words.  Words do have meaning.  And America needs to be direct during this dangerous time.
