SOTU: U.S. is a Miracle
President Obama's State of the Union address contained a lot of fluff and little substance. Welcome to the kickoff of Obama 2012.
Overall, Obama 2.0 sounded like a centrist last night. The president disappointed the left and the right. Can a progressive president get away with tacking so far to the middle after two years of pushing an activist liberal agenda? Independent voters will decide that in the next election.
If President Obama wants the United States to compete with manufacturing in China and India, he would need to dismantle labor unions, get rid of the minimum wage, abolish the EPA, relax child labor laws, and endorse currency manipulation. That will not and should not happen. We have to stop comparing our economy to the developing world. The United States is better than that.
The president said, "instead of subsidizing yesterday's energy [oil], let's invest in tomorrow's." America needs "yesterday's" energy for many years to come. We have an abundance of it in Alaska. The president ignored the jobs expanded oil exploration would create.
