There's a troubling pattern developing at the White House. President Obama is launching a direct attack on our fundamental freedoms - the U.S. Constitution.

At the ACLJ, we remain committed to defending your constitutional freedoms. And, now, more than ever, they are at risk due to the policies and actions of the Obama Administration.

You already know about the tremendous assault on the First Amendment - the Obama Administration putting in place HHS regulations that are simply unconstitutional. Regulations that require employers to violate their religious beliefs by requiring them to pay for health insurance that covers the abortion pill.

We are on the front lines in that challenge. And we are seeing success. We've been able to obtain injunctions in our three direct challenges - courts have put the HHS mandate on hold until the litigation is complete. At the same time, we're involved in supporting more than a dozen other lawsuits through the filing of amicus briefs in those cases.

Also in focus: the Second Amendment. Vice President Biden is expected to release recommendations this week to President Obama - recommendations that are likely to include the use of Executive Orders to alter the Second Amendment.  As I have said before, this presidential power play is unacceptable. You don't change a constitutional amendment by executive fiat.

At the same time, there's growing pressure from Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi to have President Obama circumvent Congress to boost the nation’s debt ceiling by utilizing a distorted view of the Fourteenth Amendment.

With President Obama scheduled to take his Oath of Office for his second term in just a matter of days, it's important that the American people send him a message. The Oath of Office is much more than words - it's a promise to this nation - a promise to America - a promise to "preserve, protect, and defend" the U.S. Constitution.

The American people deserve nothing less. Sign on to our Petition to Protect the Constitution. Send President Obama and his Administration a message: These unprecedented attacks on the Constitution must stop. Add your name here.
