It's a story that the Daily Caller has been working on for months. Now, we know the facts. Attorney General Holder's Justice Department has been working closely with Media Matters, a left-wing advocacy group, in what can only be described as a strategy to spin the news - even quell and discredit news stories about scandals plaguing Holder and the Justice Department.

The Daily Caller obtained numerous emails, through the Freedom of Information Act, that reveal an intense collaboration between the top public affairs official at the DOJ and Media Matters. The emails reveal a coordinated strategy to discredit FOX News and others who have raised questions about the Justice Department and its policies, including the botched gun-running Operation Fast & Furious, which resulted in the murder of a U.S. Border Patrol Agent.

You can read about this special relationship here. The fact is the Justice Department is using this organization as a proxy - an outside public relations consultant of sorts - to attack those who speak out about the DOJ and its flawed policies.

As I told Megyn Kelly on FOX News today, this relationship is very troubling and should warrant a closer look by the DOJ's Office of Professional Responsibility. You can watch the entire interview here.

The Daily Caller has the facts. And now there will be more questions - important questions. Did Attorney General Holder know what was going on? How much does the nation's top law enforcement officer know about the questionable tactics used by his public affairs director? And, ultimately the larger question: why does the Department of Justice have this special relationship and rely on a left-wing advocacy group to do its bidding in the media?
