Rep. King's Hearing: Sound Strategy

The fact is that the upcoming hearing by Rep. Peter King on the radicalization of American Muslims represents an important step forward in safeguarding our homeland against the rising tide of homegrown terrorism.

The hearing represents a sound strategy to address what most Americans understand - that there is a very real and growing threat to our national security and our way of life. 

Without question, there's a troubling factual pattern of American Muslims becoming radicalized and focusing on creating havoc here on U.S. soil.  This hearing is designed to get to the bottom of what's taking place in our nation - how al-Qaeda and other terrorist organizations are recruiting and manipulating American Muslims to attack the U.S. 

This hearing isn't about profiling - it's clearly about protecting our homeland.

In our letter to the House Committee on Homeland Security, we encourage members to conduct the hearing "with the highest confidence that they are serving the best interests of our nations security. Moreover, all members should be resolute in asking critical questions that are necessary to ensure that these hearings are successful in producing the answers necessary to effectively prevent future terrorist attacks on American citizens. Therefore, we encourage the Chairman and committee to calland subpoena if necessaryall witnesses necessary to determine what causes, and how to prevent, radical Islamic terrorist acts directed against the United States."
