Much of the focus in Washington right now is on the current budget proposal and what can be done to limit spending.  With spending out of control, it's certainly time to exercise fiscal restraint.

There's an important first step Congress can take to begin the budget-cutting process: eliminate the federal funding of Planned Parenthood.

With an annual budget of $1.1 Billion, Planned Parenthood gets more than $360-million dollars a year in federal funds. That's right - one-third of their budget - your tax money - goes to support the work of the nation's largest abortion provider.  In their most recent filings, Planned Parenthood admits to performing more than 330,000 abortions in 2009 alone - a number that continues to climb.

Rep. Mike Pence (R-Indiana) is at the forefront of a renewed effort in Congress to strip Planned Parenthood of federal funding.  "The time has come to deny all federal funding to Planned Parenthood of America," he said from the House floor.  "Congress must act and act now to move this important legislation.  Pro-life Americans and all Americans should not be forced to subsidize America's largest abortion provider."

We agree.  This is an issue we have been engaged in for many years.  This latest push to defund Planned Parenthood comes at a time when we're in federal court in California.

We're taking Planned Parenthood to court in a massive fraud case that alleges that Planned Parenthood overbilled federal and state governments to the tune of millions of dollars.  You can learn more about that case here

Make no mistake about it, we're dedicated to doing all that we can to ensure that your tax dollars don't go to an organization like Planned Parenthood.

It's time to put an end to the federal funding of Planned Parenthood.

Please take a moment and add your name to our petition now.  Send a message to Congress:  No more funding for Planned Parenthood.
