This is the latest installment in a year-end series looking back at a few of the many  victories by the ACLJ in 2015.

As all too often happens, Islamic radicals in Pakistan falsely accused a Christian of a crime he did not commit.  When a Muslim man in Pakistan was shot and killed outside his house, the man’s brother falsely accused the man’s Christian caretaker, Imtiaz Masih, of murder.  Masih  was then abducted and tortured at a remote farmhouse, forcing him to confess to the crime he did not commit.  The Muslim men also forced his family to give them property.

Because Pakistani Christians are generally poor and uneducated and do not have the means to fight with wealthy Muslims, they become easy targets of this type of persecution.  Our international affiliate took immediate action in this case.  Attorneys for the European Centre for Law and Justice’s (ECLJ) affiliate in Pakistan, the Organization for Legal Aid, took the case.

After four years of aggressive legal battles, the court finally agreed with us and acquitted Masih earlier this year.

This is a huge victory for persecuted and abused Christians in Pakistan and sends a powerful message to radical Muslims who would seek to misuse the Pakistani legal system.  Through your financial help and prayers, the ACLJ and our affiliates were able to help secure the freedom of this innocent Christian man.

To help the ACLJ continue to have the resources we need to make these victories possible and continue these fights, please consider making a tax-deductible donation to the ACLJ through our year-end Matching Challenge. Your gift will be doubled dollar-for-dollar through the end of the year.
