ObamaCare

Most Americans and many members of Congress understand that ObamaCare is a costly, government-run, pro-abortion measure that is not what our nation needs or deserves.

As we continue to work to derail this flawed health care reform in both the courts and in Congress, it's significant to note that a number of the 63 members of the U.S. House of Representatives who we represent in our amicus brief backing Florida's ObamaCare challenge, will have leadership positions in the new Congress - leaders who will work to repeal ObamaCare.

In our amicus brief filed in federal court in Florida backing that massive lawsuit, we're delighted that Dr. Paul Broun took leadership on this effort.  As a physician, he has a keen understanding about health care and why ObamaCare is not the kind of reform we need.

In addition, there are seven Members of the current or incoming House leadership on this brief.  This is significant, because it is this group who will play a lead role in determining the legislative outcome of efforts to repeal the new law.  These Members of House Leadership who signed the brief are as follows:

Incoming Majority Leader Eric Cantor
Incoming Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy
Incoming Conference Chair Jeb Hensarling
Incoming Conference Vice Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers
NRCC Chairman Pete Sessions
Incoming Policy Committee Chair Tom Price
Conference Chair Mike Pence

You can read our amicus brief filed in the Florida case here.

In all of our legal challenges, including our amicus brief backing Virginia's lawsuit and even with our own lawsuit, we argue that ObamaCare violates the Commerce Clause of the U.S. Constitution - that the individual mandate forcing Americans to purchase health insurance - under penalty of law - is problematic.

In addition to the court challenges, we're working aggressively to see that proper legislative action is taken when the new 112th Congress convenes in January.  Already, more than 40,000 of you have signed on to our Petition to Repeal ObamaCare

We'll keep you posted on both the legal and legislative developments on this vital issue.
