No 'Deem & Pass' - Now Demand 'NO' Vote on Health Care Bill
While there are a few details yet to be ironed out, this much is now clear. The House will not utilize the legislative scheme called 'deem and pass' and will indeed have an up-or-down vote directly on the Senate health bill. The good news is that thanks to your opposition - the House won't use this procedural trick to ram health care through.
But here's the challenge. Now that there will be an up-or-down vote on the pro-abortion Senate bill - we still need to reach those House members who are undecided and call on them to reject the Senate bill directly - vote NO on the pro-abortion health care bill.
Now, that each member of the U.S. House of Representatives will cast a direct vote on the pro-abortion health bill itself, it becomes critical to convince the undecided members to vote NO on this measure when it comes up before the House tomorrow afternoon.
Don't be confused about what you may hear out of Washington - the Senate bill that will face an up-or-down vote tomorrow remains fundamentally flawed and would result in a tremendous intrusion by the federal government into one-sixth of our economy. Additionally, the Senate bill contains historic levels of federal funding for abortion, rejecting a longstanding ban on such funding.
The American people - and hundreds of thousands of our supporters - repeatedly have spoken out against this bill and urged the the House to reject it.
Here's the bottom line: the outcome of tomorrows vote remains in doubt and time is literally running out. Remember, the House needs 216 votes to pass this measure. Ironically, the deciding votes are likely to be cast by pro-life Democrats. The question is whether or not they will stand up for the pro-life principles that they profess to believe in, or will too many of them bend to the enormous pressure being imposed on them and support this troubling package?
Please act now and sign on to our petition rejecting this flawed measure.
And, if your Member is listed below, make one last call to them at (202) 224-3121 to urge them to vote NO on this pro-abortion health care package. We'll post additional details in advance of tomorrow's vote.
