It has stood as a symbol honoring our military veterans for nearly a century: a cross overlooking the city of San Diego, high atop Mount Soledad. The ACLU has spent years trying to get it removed. The ACLJ has consistently battled to preserve it and with it, public expressions of the Christian faith all across the country.

Now, the legal fight to preserve the Mt. Soledad cross is at a critical stage.

A three-judge panel of a federal appeals court recently declared this cross memorial unconstitutional a memorial honoring the men and women who gave their lives defending our freedoms. Now comes the crucial next phase: a request to the full appeals court to reconsider to take the case and overturn this troubling decision.

With this case eventually headed for the Supreme Court of the United States, the American Center for Law and Justice is mobilizing: were drafting a vital amicus brief due in just a matter of days. We'll be representing Members of Congress, and we want to represent your interests in defending this longstanding and deeply meaningful monument.

The Mt. Soledad cross has been part of the landscape of San Diego for decades. Concerned Americans must stand up to the ACLU. Now is the time to act. Declare your membership with the ACLJ today and join our Committee to Protect the Cross.

Committee to Protect the Cross

The efforts by the American Civil Liberties Union to eradicate religious symbols from public life including the cross on Mt. Soledad represent an outrageous and dangerous violation of constitutional freedoms and religious liberty. Furthermore, to force removal of the cross, where it has stood for decades in honor of our war dead, would be a deeply offensive slap in the face to the memory of those who gave their lives for our country, and the family and friends who survive them.

I stand in full support of the American Center for Law and Justice in opposition to the ACLUs efforts to have the cross removed and banned, and in support of the ACLJs commitment to preserving the right to display public expressions of religious faith.

We cannot allow the ACLU to rewrite history and strip our nation of the symbols that have long been an important part of our heritage.
