Our offices in Georgia, Kentucky, Washington and Virginia took immediate action early this morning when we received word that the disruptive group that protests at military funerals intends to demonstrate at the memorial services for two Virginia Tech students:  one service is taking place in Georgia; the other, in Virginia.   Our offices have already communicated with local city attorneys, and we have activated our affiliates in Virginia and Georgia in order to protect the integrity of these important memorial services.  To impose of a reasonable time, place and manner restriction so that these memorial services are not interfered with is constitutional.  Several court decisions have come out recently in our favor on these precise issues.  We want to make sure that as the nation mourns the atrocities that took place at Virginia Tech, we do everything we can to protect the integrity of these funeral and memorial services.

Our Washington, DC Office of Government Affairs immediately took action this morning because of threats from Senator Boxer and Congressman Nadler concerning a Freedom of Choice Act.  The moment the Supreme Court of the United States issued the partial-birth abortion decisions in our favor on Wednesday, Congressman Nadler and Senator Boxer introduced legislation that would not only overturn the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act, but would prohibit any congressional endeavor to protect the life of the unborn on a federal level.  This is a serious attempt to not only undercut the Supreme Courts decision, but to also thwart the pro-life movement.  Our Government Affairs staff is already at work on this, and I have set in motion a senior research team to combat this legislation.  More information will be posted about this next week.
