Egypt at a Tipping Point

It's an explosive situation in Egypt - a situation that is of grave concern to the region, to Israel, and to the United States.

This is a very difficult situation and what needs to happen now is that the United States must send a clear, coordinated message to Egypt - it's time for a democratic government, where the focus is on protecting human rights and religious freedom - including protecting Christians in that country who face punishment because of their faith.

The problem is compounded because the Muslim Brotherhood, an organization that harbors terrorists, is in the middle of this situation and poised to work its way into a political solution.  A government controlled by the Muslim Brotherhood would greatly destabilize the region - and pose a very serious threat to peace and to Israel.

That's exactly why we have to send a message to President Obama - to the White House - it's time to stand for freedom in Egypt.  We urge the Obama Administration to do all that it can to encourage a true democracy in Egypt - and oppose any effort to put the Muslim Brotherhood in control.

The fact is the United States does have leverage here - remember, we provide massive financial support to Egypt to the tune of one and a half billion dollars every year.
