After Obama’s DNC party platform removed all mention of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and even censored out any mention of “God,” Democrats caved to mounting pressure to reinstating both provisions.

The ACLJ and thousands of Americans have demanded that President Obama and the Democratic Party recognize the simple reality that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel.

As you can see in the video above, many delegates at the convention strongly opposed the move to reinstate the language, eliciting a strong chorus of boos from the convention floor.

It is even questionable that the motion to reinstate that language received the 2/3 vote necessary. The chair asked for the voice vote 3 times, each time the “nays” appeared stronger and stronger, until the chair finally just deemed the amendment passed.

The amended language provides:

Jerusalem is and will remain the capital of Israel. The parties have agreed that Jerusalem is a matter for final status negotiations. It should remain an undivided city accessible to people of all faiths.

And:

We need a government that stands up for the hopes, values, and interests of working people, and gives everyone willing to work hard the chance to make the most of their God-given potential.

It is noteworthy, however, that Obama’s DNC did not reinstate language from four years ago acknowledging that Israel is “our strongest ally in the region.” It is critical that we continue to urge those who seek to be our leaders to support and acknowledge our true allies.
