Speaking today in Washington, Senator Rand Paul uttered one of the strongest calls ever made by a sitting Senator in defense of the persecuted church. Citing case after case of horrific persecution in the Muslim world, he decried media ignorance and inattention and demanded that the federal government cut off all aid to any nation that is conducting a war on Christians.

In the midst of the speech, he raised Pastor Saeed Abedini, the American pastor held by Iran, imprisoned and beaten for his faith in Christ. To raucous applause he demanded that Iran release Pastor Saeed, a moment that in many ways represented the emotional heart of the speech.

We've posted the entire speech. Watch it all (it's not long), and understand that the tide could well be turning. Like a sleeping giant, the American church is finally stirring itself on behalf of persecuted brothers and sisters abroad. It's time for each of us to Be Heard. Sign a letter to the Iranian President requesting that Iran save Saeed.
