The clock is ticking for the U.S. State Department to intervene in the case of an American-Iranian pastor in prison in Iran under an eight-year sentence.
Saeed Abedini's case was the primary focus last Friday of a House committee hearing called by Congressman Frank Wolf (R-Virginia). Leading up to the hearing, the GOP lawmaker was critical of the White House regarding the Christian pastor’s plight.
“The Obama administration has been a failure on the issue of human rights and religious freedom,” he said. “My colleagues and I will work tirelessly to ensure that basic freedoms are not compromised at home or abroad, particularly in the case of Pastor Saeed Abedini.”
The Abedini family’s attorney, Jordan Sekulow of the American Center for Law & Justice (ACLJ), tells American Family News that all the important parties were there Friday, with the exception of the State Department, which he says was “AWOL” – absent without leave. . . .
