We are anticipating that tomorrow morning, Dr. Michael Newdow will file a lawsuit in federal court challenging our national motto, In God We Trust.  I have already assembled a senior team of lawyers at the American Center for Law & Justice to meet this challenge in court.  I anticipate that we will be filing briefs on behalf of members of the United States Congress.  Interestingly, it was the Congress that passed a resolution declaring In God We Trust as our national motto.  You may click here to learn more about the history of how our national motto developed.  I will keep everyone posted when the lawsuit is officially filed.

I was in our Washington, DC, office yesterday working on our brief in both the partial-birth abortion case and our RICO pro-life case.  Currently, we are representing over 70 members of the United States House and Senate in a brief supporting the United States Justice Department on the issue of partial-birth abortion.  This brief will be filed at the end of the week.  At the same time, I am reviewing a draft of our reply brief in the Operation Rescue v. National Organization for Women case, which involves the application of RICO to pro-life protests.  We will be filing our brief early next week in that important case.  Oral arguments are set for November 30th.  Also, next week, we will be involved in the moot court preparation for the oral arguments in the Planned Parenthood v. Ayotte case, involving parental notification for abortion, as well as our RICO case.  Interestingly, both cases will be argued on November 30th.

Our mid-west regional office is preparing a lawsuit to be filed on behalf of a pastor who was arrested for having a church service that was deemed unauthorized.  We successfully won the criminal case, and we are now going to file a civil rights action to ensure this pastors right to proclaim the Gospel is protected.
