I am happy to report that weve had a significant victory for Victory Christian Center in Altamonte Springs, FL.  Increasingly Ive been concerned about zoning laws being applied in such a way as to discriminate against churches.  This especially impacts their ability to minister to the community.  In this particular case, churches were required to have five acres of property before they could operate as a church.  The same provisions did not apply to retail establishments or businesses.  Churches were uniquely penalized under the Altamonte Springs Code.

Our ACLJ Senior Counsel Larry Crain went to work on this situation.  We asserted that the existing statutes violated both federal law and the United States Constitution.  Im happy to report that the City attorney, after reviewing our legal analysis, concluded that we were, in fact, correct.  The Church has been allowed to continue its ministry, and the statutes and regulations are being rewritten.

This is an important victory in our increasing efforts to protect the Churchs ability to communicate the Gospel.
