For the past few days, we have been preparing for the moot courts in the Ten Commandments cases which are scheduled for argument before the Supreme Court of the United States on March 2nd.  This morning at our offices of the American Center for Law and Justice, a group of ten lawyers will gather to serve as a moot court panel for Mat Staver, who is presenting oral arguments in the Ten Commandments cases.  The purpose of the moot court is to prepare the advocate for questions similar to those he will receive from the Justices of the Supreme Court during oral arguments.  The argument in a Supreme Court case only takes 30 minutes each side, and the Justices ask upwards of 40 questions within that 30-minute time period.  We expect the Ten Commandments cases to be quite active and, thus, have been preparing for this moot court for almost a week.

A lot of attention is being paid to the Ten Commandments cases as oral arguments approach.  On Monday, I will be at William & Mary School of Law for an all-day symposium on the Ten Commandments cases.  I will be debating Nadine Strossen, President of the American Civil Liberties Union.  On Thursday, I will be at the Pew Forum at the National Press Club debating the issue of the Ten Commandments with Professor Doug Laycock from the University of Texas.  Moot courts will again take place next Friday here in Washington, DC.  Finally, on February 28th, we will be involved in a three-hour moot court at The Heritage Foundation with all three lawyers who are arguing on our behalf:  Mat Staver, President of Liberty Counsel; Greg Abbott, Attorney General of Texas; and Paul Clement, Acting Solicitor General of the United States.  Please be in prayer for all of the lawyers involved in these important cases.

Word in Washington is that we may see some additional judicial nomination hearings in the next three weeks.  We will keep everyone posted as we expect some major actions on this filibuster issue to take place.

Our new television program, ACLJ This Week, will air this evening on INSP and the Trinity Broadcasting Network.  Weve just shot new episodes of the program this week, and I know you will enjoy taking a look at those.  My son Logans program, The Logan Show, also airs tonight on JC-TV, and it can be viewed online as well as over the air.  Logans program will also air Saturday on FamilyNet at 11 p.m. and on INSP, iLife, and T.C.T. Network at midnight.  Be sure to check out his new website at www.theloganshow.com.
