This morning, People For the American Way (PFAW) held a press conference in Washington, DC, where they formally opposed John Robertss nomination to the Supreme Court of the United States.  This is certainly not a surprise move and represents a desperate attempt to create controversy over a nominee whose judicial philosophy of interpreting the Constitution, instead of re-writing it, is embraced by mainstream America.

First, PFAW argued that there were not enough documents available to examine the nominees record.  Now, PFAW has issued a 50-page report criticizing the nominees record and judicial philosophy.  The fact is that John Roberts embraces a sound judicial philosophy that focuses on interpreting the Constitution not legislating from the bench.  It is that philosophy that is embraced by Roberts and by mainstream America.   It is PFAW and other liberal groups that are outside the mainstream of America

Im not surprised that PFAW and others will do whatever they can to create controversy over one of the most qualified and respected nominees ever to be named to the high court.  In the end, though, efforts by PFAW and others will fail and John Roberts will be confirmed as the 109th Justice to the Supreme Court of the United States.

I would also encourage you to take a look at an interesting article in todays USA Today posted on our websites In the News section.
