Why Does Planned Parenthood Need Nearly Half a Billion of Our Tax Dollars?
One billion dollars – that is the total net assets of the largest abortion provider in America, Planned Parenthood. Think about that, $1,000,000,000. But where does that money come from? Astonishingly enough, you. 46%, nearly half, of the abortion giant’s billion-dollar budget comes from your tax dollars. In the previous year, covering July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2009, Planned Parenthood reported that it received a total of $363 million in taxpayer funding. Yet, their most recent repo... Continue Reading

Taxpayer Funding for Abortion – Even During an Economic Crisis
At the ACLJ, we believe that funding abortions is an inappropriate use of taxpayer dollars, period. Polls consistently show that the American People – including many abortion supporters – agree. Now, as we face a spending crisis that is spiraling out of control, one would think that it would be the worst time to call for more abortion funding. Planned Parenthood Related Documents Destroyed
While we continue to fight Planned Parenthood in court in California and in Texas, defend states like Indiana that don’t want to be forced to fund Planned Parenthood in their state, and work to end taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood, there is yet another developing story that demonstrates the lengths to which Planned Parenthood and pro-abortion government officials will go to increase abortion on demand. The story involves the dismissal of 49 criminal counts, including 23 felonies, a... Continue Reading

Taxpayers Fund 300 Abortions in DC
It's a tragic reminder of why of why even the small legislative battles that we fight are so critical. In a report out today, we learn that $185,000 in congressionally appropriated taxpayer funding has been spent on elective abortions in DC over the past two years. That works out to nearly $617 of taxpayer money for each abortion. This is tragic on a number of fronts. Most plainly, it's a travesty that taxpayer dollars are being used to end these precious lives. This occurred despite the fact ... Continue Reading

U.S. House: No Taxpayer Funds for Abortion
It was a critically important move to protect the sanctity of human life. The U.S. House of Representatives voted 251-175 Wednesday night to approve H.R. 3, the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act. H.R. 3 is sponsored by Congressman Chris Smith and represents the most comprehensive ban on taxpayer funding of abortion in history. Current law restricts direct funding of elective abortions, but that restriction is accomplished through a patchwork of legislative language that must be renewed ann... Continue Reading
