Race and Sex Based Discrimination Illegal … Except for Abortion
Discrimination based on a person’s race or sex has long been illegal in America, except in one circumstance – when it comes to abortion. Federal law and 92 percent of states’ laws allow abortions to be committed even if it is just because of an unborn baby’s race or sex. Now there are new concerns that Planned Parenthood may actually be promoting this most invidious form of discrimination – the taking of a life based on the race or sex of the child. Planned Paren Continue Reading...

The Pro-Abortion War on Women
California law prohibits a person from performing or assisting in an abortion if the person lacks a valid license to practice as a physician and surgeon. Violation of this law is punishable by a fine not exceeding $10,000 or imprisonment, or both. Working its way through the California Legislature is Senate Bill 1338, which would change California law. The bill is scheduled for a committee hearing this week. The bill would allow non-physicians to perform first-trimester abortions. If the bill b Continue Reading...

The U.S. Department of Planned Parenthood
Anyone who doubts that the current administration is in the back pocket of Planned Parenthood need only consider the latest personnel shift at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (“HHS”). Effective last Friday, Tait Sye, once media director for Planned Parenthood, is now deputy assistant secretary for public affairs for HHS. Normally, an appointment to a deputy assistant to anything in our federal bureaucracy is hardly worth a mention. But this personnel choice is yet Continue Reading...

Debate Over Obama Mandate & Compromise Intensifies
The American people are watching, and they don't like what they see. The issue: President Obama's mandate and follow-up compromise targeting people of faith - policies that violate religious liberty and the conscience rights of millions of Americans. We've been extremely active in calling attention to this problematic development. Our legal team has been writing about this issue for weeks now. Back to Court Defending Life in NYC
It is a case that is incredibly important. Standing up for crisis pregnancy centers and the pro-life work they do in New York City. You may recall that last summer, we achieved a significant victory in federal district court when a federal judge declared that a new law put in place violates the free speech of the crisis pregnancy centers saying the law's "over-expansiveness is evident from its very language." The court issued a preliminary injunction, putting the law on hold. Now, we're back in Continue Reading...

39 Years, 54 Million Babies – The March Against Roe v. Wade
39 years ago the Supreme Court of the United States handed down one of the worst decisions our nation has ever seen – Roe v. Wade. Since this horrific decision that called the destruction of human life a “right,” 54 million babies have been aborted. That figure is a tragic and solemn reminder of what we fight for every day – the lives of millions of babies. Today, thousands of Americans are taking a stand for life at the 39th Annual March for Life in Washington, DC. It Continue Reading...

2011 Victories: Prolife Message Will Not be Silenced
Over the past year, the ACLJ has been actively engaged in numerous efforts to defend free speech rights, religious liberties, the lives of the unborn, our heritage as a nation, and so many other freedoms we hold dear. We have achieved many critical victories, and it is important that we take a step back and look at what has been accomplished through the efforts and support of our ACLJ members as we press on in the many ongoing battles we face in the year ahead. This is the first in a year-end Continue Reading...

Taxpayer Funding for Abortion – Even During an Economic Crisis
At the ACLJ, we believe that funding abortions is an inappropriate use of taxpayer dollars, period. Polls consistently show that the American People – including many abortion supporters – agree. Now, as we face a spending crisis that is spiraling out of control, one would think that it would be the worst time to call for more abortion funding. And yet that’s exactly what is happening in the U.S. Senate. Majority Leader Harry Reid has filed cloture on a “minibus” ap Continue Reading...
