It's The Imam, Not The Mosque

A mosque near ground zero? The New York City community board endorsed the Cordoba House, a community center and mosque planned for construction near Ground Zero. Significant opposition has emerged against the project. Sarah Palin even weighed in this weekend, tweeting, "Peace-seeking Muslims, pls understand, Ground Zero mosque is UNNECESSARY provocation; it stabs hearts. Pls reject it in interest of healing." Should there be a mosque near Ground Zero? Imam Feisal Rauf, who is leading the charge to build Park 51 (formerly Cordoba House) in New York City, supports Shariah law courts in the United States of America, is tied to the funding of the Gaza Flotilla , called the United States an accessory in the 9-11 attacks, and will not designate Hamas a terrorist organization. This Imam and his mosque must be stopped. You can read the complete article here. Please leave your comments on the Washington Post site. UPDATE: New Filing in NYC - Keep Mosque Out of Ground Zero

A couple of developments regarding the planned Islamic mosque at Ground Zero where thousands of Americans were murdered on 9-11 by Islamic terrorists. First, as promised, we've produced a summary of some of the beliefs of Imam Feisal Rauf, the Imam behind the mosque project. You can read his own words - taken directly from his 2004 book, Whats Right With Islam is Whats Right With America: A New Vision for Muslims and the West. You can read that summation here. Secondly, our team in New York City has taken an important step in the effort to prevent that mosque from being built. Today, we submitted additional written testimony to the Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) urging city officials to landmark the site where the landing gear of one of the hijacked planes from 9-11 crashed through the roof of the building. We are urging city officials to landmark the site because it "stands as a symbol of America's strength and survival in the face of brutal, sadistic terrorism." ... Continue Reading

Standing Up for Families & Friends of 9-11 Victims in NYC

It was a powerful meeting - hundreds showed up at the Landmarks Preservation Commission hearing to discuss plans to demolish a 150-year-old building - to clear the way for the development of a 13-story Islamic mosque at Ground Zero where thousands of Americans were murdered by Islamic terrorists. We represent Tim Brown, a firefighter and first responder who survived the Twin Towers' collapse, who lost nearly 100 friends in the attack. We have dedicated a legal team to this important case. And at the meeting yesterday, Sam Nunberg of our New York office reminded the commissioners that they have landmarked some 22,000 buildings in the city - including 6 percent of which have been landmarked solely on the basis of historical significance - including where Bill Ayer's terrorist group, Weather Underground, was building bombs when one detonated. If the commission felt it appropriate to landmark that building, the location under debate now surely deserves landmark status due to the fact t... Continue Reading

    NO to Ground Zero Mosque

It's a critical time in New York City as we represent a number of families and friends of victims of 9-11 in opposing the building of an Islamic mosque at Ground Zero - where thousands of U.S. citizens were murdered by Islamic terrorists. An important hearing is taking place this week in New York before the Landmarks Preservation Commission - a hearing that's the first of many to determine whether the city of New York will permit this mosque to be built at that site. Here's the problem: Ground Zero is sacred ground. It is offensive to many of the families and friends who lost loved ones in the 9-11 attacks to construct an Islamic mosque at this site. Further, there are growing questions about the Imam behind this project - questions about his financing - questions about ties to terrorists. Join with us at the ACLJ as we stand in support of the families and friends who lost loved ones - those who do not want an Islamic mosque built at Ground Zero. The simple fact is that Ground... Continue Reading

    A Ground Zero Mosque?

A U.S. flag is posted in the rubble of the World Trade Center September 13, 2001, in New York.

It's a disturbing proposal - a plan to build an Islamic mosque near Ground Zero - the sacred site in New York City where thousands of Americans were murdered by Islamic terrorists in the attacks of 9-11. As one father who lost a son in the attacks put it: "to put a mosque two blocks from ground zero is ludicrous." He's absolutely right. And consider the fact that the Imam behind this mosque has a record of support for causes tied to terrorism - and now there are even new reports that the Ima... Continue Reading
