Who Would Describe Christians in the Military as “Monsters who Terrorize”?
Thousands of the brave men and women of our military who fight to defend the freedoms we hold dear find strength and renewal in their Christian faith. Yet, some would seek to remove their religious freedom, their freedom to freely practice their Christian faith from the military. Dangerously, one of the most ardent opponents of religious freedom – and in particular Christians – in the military is now apparently the Pentagon’s newest advisor on religious freedom and tolerance ... Are Military and Media Leaders Embracing an Anti-Christian Extremist?
Over at Breitbart.com, a post discussing potential Pentagon regulations prohibiting proselytization has gone viral, at last count with more than 1.2 million Facebook shares and 8,000 comments. While I’m not aware of any immediate or pending change in Pentagon policies regarding religious liberty, I am extremely troubled that it is apparently consulting with an anti-Christian extremist, Mikey Weinstein. Over at the Washington Post, Sally Quinn penned a rather remarkable piece — taki... Continue Reading

No Secret Court for Military Drones
It's an issue that's getting a lot of attention - especially since it was discussed last week at a confirmation hearing for CIA director nominee John Brennan. There's debate over the use of remote-controlled drones to attack those who are threats to America. Many are asking – does the President, who serves as Commander-in-Chief, have the authority to order drone attacks to protect our national security? I do believe that the President must have this authority to act. However, it’s ... Continue Reading

Outlawing the Law of War
Earlier this week, the New York Times published an op-ed by George Bisharat, a professor at UC Hastings College of Law, calling for the Palestinians to bring complaints against Israel in the International Criminal Court based on Israeli military operations against Palestinian terrorists. The Palestinian Authority has tried this tactic before, but the ICC’s chief prosecutor declined the case because Palestine is not a state. (Full disclosure: My colleagues at the ACLJ filed briefs and made ... Continue Reading

Maintaining Clarity in the Debate over Gaza Tactics
If the past is any guide, increased conflict in Gaza will be accompanied by international demands for Israeli restraint, frivolous accusations of Israeli war crimes, and perhaps even complaints to the International Criminal Court. Before the outcry even has a chance to build, it’s important to remember how the Law of Armed Conflict (LOAC) actually applies to Gaza. The fundamental aim of LOAC is to prevent unnecessary casualties and destruction within the context of military conflict. In p... Continue Reading

A Tribute to America's Best
On November 11th of each year, we pause to reflect on the service and sacrifice of the men and women of our Armed Forces. Our nation’s veterans - many of whom have given their lives in defense of our freedoms - to protect our constitutional rights. On this Veterans Day, it seems a bit different, though. The nation has just been through a bruising election. The country remains strongly divided on numerous issues. And, America remains at war - men and women continue to serve and are placed ... Benghazi: Don’t Fall for the Misdirection
For the Washington Post, David Ignatius has obtained a CIA timeline of the September 11 attack. He begins: A detailed CIA timeline of the assault on U.S. facilities in Benghazi paints an anguishing picture of embattled Americans waiting for Libyan security forces who didn’t come and courageous CIA officers who died on a rooftop without the heavy weapons they needed, trying to protect their colleagues below. It’s a story of individual bravery, but also of a CIA misjudgment in rely... Continue Reading

Evidence Hillary Answered the 3:00 a.m. Call While Obama Hung Up
This weekend, while pondering the recent revelations that explicit calls for military help may have been rejected, I realized the media has been misunderstanding the basic lines of authority that were likely in place in Benghazi on September 11, 2012. If those lines of authority were conventional, then on that night it is highly likely that Hillary Clinton did all she could while Barack Obama — who controlled vastly more resources — did nothing effective. Now, I’m not at all... Continue Reading
