Court Rules Prayer Proclamation Unconstitutional
Just a week after “record turnout” for the National Day of Prayer, as millions joined together in prayer all across America, a state appellate court has declared the proclamation of a day of prayer unconstitutional. The Colorado Court of Appeals has ruled that the Governor’s Colorado Day of Prayer proclamation, which was first issued in 1905, is unconstitutional. The Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF), an atheist group which has sought to stamp out any semblance of our r Continue Reading...

$13.5 Million in Taxpayer Funding Back to Planned Parenthood
The state of Texas passed a law preventing Planned Parenthood affiliates in Texas from receiving taxpayer dollars. Planned Parenthood successfully sued to block this law but a federal appeals court issued an emergency stay, allowing the state to defund one of Planned Parenthood’s largest affiliates. On Friday, a federal appeals court again allowed taxpayer dollars to go to the abortion giant. Unfortunately, a three-judge panel of the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals reversed the emergency Continue Reading...

Federal Appeals Court: Texas Can Defund Planned Parenthood … for Now
The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals has overturned a federal district court ruling that prevented the State of Texas from defunding Planned Parenthood. Yesterday, the federal district court granted a preliminary injunction to Planned Parenthood preventing the enforcement of a new Texas law that would have defunded Planned Parenthood in that state. The ruling by the Fifth Circuit issued later that day grants Texas a stay of that preliminary injunction order. Texas can now enforce the law defundi Continue Reading...

Update On The ACLJ’s Supreme Court ObamaCare Case, Seven-Sky v. Holder
As you know, the American Center for Law & Justice (“ACLJ”) represents individuals in a challenge to ObamaCare. The case, known as Seven-Sky v. Holder, Case No. 11-679, is pending at the United States Supreme Court on a petition for writ of certiorari. We raised two issues in the petition: (1) whether the individual mandate, the part of ObamaCare that requires millions of Americans, for the first time in our nation’s history, to purchase a product (health insurance) from Continue Reading...

Senator Johnson: ObamaCare “Greatest Assault on Freedom in our Lifetimes”
Senator Ron Johnson (WI) says that ObamaCare is the “greatest assault on freedom in our lifetimes.” In fact, it is the reason he got involved in politics in the first place. I spoke with Senator Johnson at the 2012 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington, DC, regarding ObamaCare. He is thankful for groups like the ACLJ who are actively engaged in the fight against this law at the Supreme Court. He is “concerned” about the practical effect that Obam Continue Reading...

Pastor Youcef Still Alive But Under Increased Pressure to Recant
Sources inside Iran have reported to the ACLJ that the Chief Justice of the Gilan Provincial Court in Iran is again pressuring Christian Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani to recant his faith in Christ. Last week the Chief Justice, in a private meeting, ordered that additional pressure be put on Pastor Youcef to recant his faith. Again, Pastor Youcef responded by refusing to deny his faith in Christ and reiterating to the Iranian authorities that he could not return to Islam because he was never a Muslim Continue Reading...

ACLJ – A Record of Impact
Though our constitutional freedoms and religious liberties are under constant attack, I wanted to share with you some of the important victories and ongoing work of the ACLJ in defense of faith, life, and liberty. In just the last year, the ACLJ has been involved in a number of critical cases impacting the freedoms we have as Americans, and have achieved some monumental victories here at home and around the world. One of the greatest challenges to life and liberty we have seen in recent memory Continue Reading...
