    ACLJ Takes CPAC by Storm

Gingrich waves after speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington

The ACLJ was privileged to participate in this past weekend’s Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington, DC – the largest annual gathering of conservative leaders, grassroots activists, policy experts, and concerned citizens. As a key leader in protecting the fundamental rights of life and liberty secured by the Constitution, the ACLJ was able to share with other conservative leaders and activists our aggressive strategy of litigating, working with elected offici   Continue Reading...

    Evangelicals Still Driving Policy Priorities

Republican presidential candidates stand on stage before participating in a Republican presidential candidates debate in Charleston

In this turbulent 2012 GOP presidential primary, small government social conservatives - deemed Teavangelicals by David Brody - are still kingmakers in the Republican party. The only difference this year from years past is that we are three states into the Republican nomination contest and there is no consensus candidate among conservatives. Thus far we have had three votes (one caucus and two primaries) and three different winners. Social conservatives picked the winner in all three contests.   Continue Reading...

Who do Social Conservatives Want in 2012?

Republican presidential candidates listen to the national anthem before the start of the Republican Presidential Debate in Las Vegas

First it was Bachmann, then it was Cain, then Perry, then Cain again, and now Newt Gingrich has surged in the GOP primary field. Mitt Romney is the only candidate who has had poll-stability. In the beginning of the cycle, Romney was the nominal “front-runner” and his biggest slip has been from first to second place following the Newt-surge. We know that social conservatives, who make up a large plurality of the GOP, have fueled each of these candidates’ surges to the top. But,   Continue Reading...

    Twitter and the Bachmann Theory

U.S. Congresswoman and likely Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann sings 'God Bless America' next to a current member of the U.S. Navy at an event to pay tribute to veterans on Memorial Day in Dover

The social media landscape can be overwhelming. Its never-ending cycle of information often leaves consumers feeling unsure about how to differentiate hard news from fluff. And once you enter the social media world, the cycle seems to spin with no end in sight. Even a mundane post to the “Twitterverse” can go viral, giving the tweet more legitimacy than it often deserves, just by the sheer number of people the message reaches. For example, late last night when I was perusing the web   Continue Reading...

Are Smart, Accomplished Conservative Women the New Crazy?

Michele Bachmann is intense. This is not a new concept and not one that she is trying to hide. Just take a look at her background filled with professional and academic achievement. In the spotlight, the Congresswoman continues to prove herself as a quick thinking, intellectual heavyweight with a resume to back up her rhetoric. So if you're judging her by these things alone, you may actually describe her as more than intense, but rather a force. This is what her supporters love most about her and what her liberal detractors fear most. If the Editors at Newsweek were trying to make Michele Bachmann look crazy to influence voters in Iowa before Saturday’s straw poll, they were misinformed. As a young conservative woman, what I see and what I hope many women see in this image is a strong woman, high on restoring the American dream, who is ready for battle, even if the cover photo was chosen partly to validate Newsweek’s “Queen of Rage” headline. What the mainstre   Continue Reading...

Michele Bachmann Shattering Stereotypes of Conservative Women

U.S. Congresswoman Bachmann, a potential Republican candidate for President, recites the U.S. Pledge of Allegiance at New Hampshire GOP Brunch in Nashua

Minnesota Congresswoman and Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann is destroying the left's definition of feminism. The modern feminist movement’s evolution into nothing more than liberal activist organizations is being exposed by the lack of enthusiasm for Bachmann's success. As Post blogger Jennifer Rubin recently noted, the congresswoman "may be the first GOP woman to ever win a caucus or a primary." It is not shocking that Democrat-leaning, mostly pro-abortion rights "femin   Continue Reading...

First Sarah Palin, Now Michele Bachmann

Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin looks down during the Pledge of Allegiance before speaking to the LIA Annual Meeting & Luncheon at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury

One of the most disgusting political spectacles of my lifetime has been the single-minded effort of the Left to destroy Sarah Palin. Without burdening the readers with a litany of links, we all remember the "not a real woman" comments, the stalking author/neighbor, the hacking scandal, the recent (enthusiastic) fishing expedition through thousands of e-mails, and the vile insults from academics, politicians, and celebrities alike. The goal: to banish her to the fringe of American life, to turn h   Continue Reading...
