Secretary Sebelius Ignorant of the Constitution?
Last Thursday, Kathleen Sebelius, Secretary of Health and Human Services, appeared at a full committee hearing of the House Education and Workforce Committee. Representative Trey Gowdy of South Carolina asked Sebelius to explain her statement earlier this year that requiring religious employers to include abortion-inducing drugs, sterilization, and contraceptive services in their health insurance plans “strikes the appropriate balance between respecting religious freedom and increasing ac Continue Reading...

Taking HHS to Federal Court in Defense of Religious Liberty
It is a tremendously important lawsuit. We filed suit today in federal court in St. Louis, Missouri on behalf of a St. Louis business owner and his company. Our argument is clear: the HHS mandate, which requires employers to purchase health insurance for their employees that includes coverage for contraceptives, sterilization, and abortion-inducing drugs, violates the religious beliefs of our client. You may recall that there have been several suits filed nationwide challenging the HHS mandate. Continue Reading...

Obama's Violation of Religious Liberty Facing More Challenges
The mandate and compromise by the Obama Administration's Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) are facing new challenges each day. The latest legal challenge comes from seven states and a host of organizations - including two private citizens, two religious non-profit organizations and a Catholic school. They have filed a federal lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of HHS regulations, which we have contended from the very start violate the free exercise of religion and the conscie Continue Reading...

We have sent a detailed legal analysis to Secretary Sebelius on behalf of nearly 70,000 Americans - urging the Secretary to reverse the troubling regulations put in place - measures that violate religious liberty and the conscience rights of millions of Americans. We've been reporting in detail on the p Continue Reading...

Pro-Abortion Fingerprints on HHS Mandate
Here's a shocker. In drafting the infamous contraception regulation, and the subsequent compromise, there apparently was little or no input from the pro-life community, but plenty of guidance from the pro-abortion crowd. Amazing. As you know, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) issued its mandate, requiring religious institutions, such as religious schools and hospitals, to include abortion-inducing drugs, sterilization, and contraception in their insurance policies for employees. Continue Reading...

Obama Stonewalls on Abortion Drug Mandate as Senate Votes
Later today, the Senate is expected to vote on an amendment that would revoke the provision of President Obama’s mandate that forces religious and prolife institutions to violate their religious beliefs by providing insurance coverage for abortion drugs. The Administration’s ongoing and repeated claims that opposition to the contraceptive mandate is playing politics is nothing short of ironic, not to mention disingenuous. Indeed, what the President and his administration pulled last Continue Reading...

HHS: ObamaCare Requires Coverage of Abortion Drugs
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has announced its official interpretation of ObamaCare that all health insurance plans must include coverage of abortion drugs. HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius (pictured above) stated that “the final rule on preventive health services will ensure that women with health insurance coverage will have access to the full range of the Institute of Medicine’s recommended preventive services, including all FDA-approved forms of contrace Continue Reading...
