Victory: Jesus Statue Remains Because ACLJ Members Spoke Out
In a significant victory for religious liberty, the Flathead National Forest announced today that it would in fact renew the Knights of Columbus special use permit for the display of a statue of Jesus Christ. The statue, which was placed there as a World War II memorial by returning veterans, is located on a 25 foot by 25 foot parcel of land near the top of Chair Two at Whitefish Mountain Resort. The National Forest Service received more than 95,000 comments on the matter; 70,000 of those commen... Continue Reading

Legislation to Protect the Big Mountain Jesus Statue
Back in October, we brought to your attention yet another crazy attempt by the Freedom From Religion Foundation to eradicate all religious expression from the public sphere. This time the target was a Jesus Statue that is part of a World War II Memorial on Big Mountain in Montana. We engaged immediately and ACLJ members answered the bell in large numbers, with more than 70,000 of you signing a letter calling for the Forest Service to renew the lease in question without a requirement that the st... The Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF), an atheist, anti-Christian group, is opposing the lease renewal, c... Continue Reading

70,000 Urge Feds to Keep MT Jesus Memorial Statue in Place
The response has been overwhelming. More than 70,000 concerned individuals are standing with us - in a letter urging the National Forest Service to renew a long-standing lease that would permit a World War II memorial - a statue of Jesus - to remain in place. We're sending a letter today - along with the 70,000 names - to the federal government detailing why this display, which has been atop Big Mountain at the Whitefish Mountain Resort in Montana for nearly 60 years, is constitutionally permis... In 5 Hours Jesus Statue Support Eclipses Atheist Group’s Membership
In just a few short hours, more people have taken a stand for the war memorial statue of Jesus that sits atop Big Mountain in Montana than the entire membership of the atheist group seeking to have it removed. Less than five hours after the ACLJ posted our letter to the U.S. Forest Service online, urging it to renew its lease to the Knights of Columbus and allow the nearly 60-year-old World War II memorial to remain, more people had signed onto the letter than the entire claimed 17,000 membersh...
