ACLJ and Congressman Rehberg to Defend Jesus Statue

War Memorial Statue of Jesus Overlooking Big Mountain in Montana

Many of you are aware of the Freedom From Religion Foundation’s (FFRF) ridiculous effort to have a 60-year old war memorial in Montana taken down because it depicts Jesus. In fact, over 70,000 of you signed our letter urging the National Forest Service (NFS) to ignore the FFRF and renew the lease for this memorial on Big Mountain. Fortunately, the NFS listened and the lease was appropriately renewed. Predictably, as has become its rather frivolous habit, the FFRF has filed a lawsuit again   Continue Reading...

Atheist Group Launches Legal Attack Against Jesus Statue in Montana

War Memorial Statue of Jesus Overlooking Big Mountain in Montana

We knew it would happen. The Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF), an atheist group that continually challenges everything from the National Motto, the National Day of Prayer, and the Pledge of Allegiance, has filed a federal lawsuit challenging the Jesus statue - a Montana war memorial that's been displayed on a mountaintop since the 1950's. The FFRF lawsuit comes just days after the National Forest Service rejected arguments from the atheist group to remove the statue. The federal governmen   Continue Reading...

Anti-Christian Atheist Leaders Calls Us Bullies for Telling the Truth

This weekend I appeared on Fox News to discuss the decision of the U.S. Forest Service to allow a World War II memorial, a statue of Jesus reminiscent of statues veterans saw as they fought across Europe, to remain on federal property. Of the 95,000 comments received by the Forest Service, 70,000 were ACLJ members who spoke out urging the Forest Service to renew this lease. Now, the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF), the same anti-faith group that has tried to remove the Pledge of Allegia   Continue Reading...

Victory: Jesus Statue Remains Because ACLJ Members Spoke Out

War Memorial Statue of Jesus on Big Mountain in Montana

In a significant victory for religious liberty, the Flathead National Forest announced today that it would in fact renew the Knights of Columbus special use permit for the display of a statue of Jesus Christ. The statue, which was placed there as a World War II memorial by returning veterans, is located on a 25 foot by 25 foot parcel of land near the top of Chair Two at Whitefish Mountain Resort. The National Forest Service received more than 95,000 comments on the matter; 70,000 of those commen   Continue Reading...

Legislation to Protect the Big Mountain Jesus Statue

War Memorial Statue of Jesus Overlooking Big Mountain in Montana

Back in October, we brought to your attention yet another crazy attempt by the Freedom From Religion Foundation to eradicate all religious expression from the public sphere. This time the target was a Jesus Statue that is part of a World War II Memorial on Big Mountain in Montana. We engaged immediately and ACLJ members answered the bell in large numbers, with more than 70,000 of you signing a letter calling for the Forest Service to renew the lease in question without a requirement that the st   Continue Reading...

UPDATE: ACLJ Support for MT Jesus Statue Dominates Comments to Feds

War Memorial Statue of Jesus Overlooking Big Mountain in Montana

Your voice has been heard! Last week, we sent the National Forest Service our letter defending the Jesus war memorial statue on a Montana mountain - with more than 70,000 names - concerned individuals who stood with us in urging the Forest Service to renew a long-standing lease that would permit this historic memorial to stay atop Big Mountain, where it was placed nearly 60 years ago. The Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF), an atheist, anti-Christian group, is opposing the lease renewal, c   Continue Reading...
