Court Stops Law to Defund Planned Parenthood Abortion Business
A federal appeals court has prevented a state from defunding the largest abortion provider in America. The Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that an Indiana law that prevented funds from going to Planned Parenthood or other abortion providers could not be enforced because it likely violates federal law. Indiana’s legislature passed a law which provided: An agency of the state may not: (1) enter into a contract with; or (2) make a grant to; any entity that performs abortions or main... A Big Win for Endangered Children at the Super Bowl
The ACLJ is pleased to have participated in crafting new legislation to protect children from the horrors of human trafficking in Indiana just in time for the Super Bowl. It is a crime so horrific that most of us have a hard time comprehending it – the human trafficking of young children for the purpose of selling them into the sex trade. However, the reality is that it is happening on a shockingly large scale, and there is a desperate need for enhanced prosecution. Maybe most shocking to... Continue Reading

A Congressional Probe of Planned Parenthood
For years, we have been pursuing Planned Parenthood - challenging them in court. It is encouraging that Congress is now taking a close look at the nation's largest abortion provider, with an eye toward investigating how Planned Parenthood spends federal taxpayer funds. In the House, Rep. Cliff Stearns, chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee's investigation subcommittee, has requested information from Planned Parenthood including audits and other information about their financing. Feder... Continue Reading

U.S. Reps & Americans Back Indiana Law Defunding Planned Parenthood
It is a bold move in the fight to protect life. I'm talking about Indiana's new state law that prohibits federal funds it receives from going to abortion providers like Planned Parenthood. I first wrote about this issue in June and noted that this law was immediately challenged in federal court by Planned Parenthood and the ACLU - with the backing of the Obama Administration - claiming the law violates a federal statute. Now, the legal battle has moved to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seve... Continue Reading

Backing Indiana to Stop Funding Planned Parenthood
It's a pro-life law that is getting a lot of attention - and a law under attack by Planned Parenthood and the ACLU. I'm talking about a new law in the state of Indiana that prohibits the distribution of federal funds it receives to organizations like Planned Parenthood that perform abortions. I applaud Indiana's approach to taking action to stop the flow of federal taxpayer funds to the nation's largest abortion provider. With Planned Parenthood already receiving more than $350 million dollars... Continue Reading

Planned Parenthood of Indiana, Inc. v. Commissioner of the Indiana State Department of Health
The fight to defund Planned Parenthood has seen some success at the state level, but the abortion provider is doing everything in its power to protect its government funding. The ACLJ is preparing to file an amicus brief supporting an Indiana law defunding the abortion industry, arguing that Indiana has a legal right to determine how the Medicaid dollars entrusted to them for administering are distributed. On May 10, 2011, Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels signed House Enrolled Act 1210 into law. ... Continue Reading
