Battle Over Protecting Our Borders Reaches Supreme Court
It is a critically important week at the U.S. Supreme Court. In a term that includes several blockbuster cases, the Justices will hear oral arguments on Wednesday on the constitutionality of Arizona's immigration law, S.B. 1070. S.B. 1070 made it a state crime to be in the country illegally and stated that an officer engaged in a lawful stop, detention or arrest must, when practicable, ask about a person's legal status when reasonable suspicion exists that the person is in the U.S. illegally. As we told you over the past couple of weeks, Attorney General Holder lashed out at the NYPD tactics, calling them 'disturbing' based on news accounts of the program. He didn't bother checking it out, but instead, impugned the integrity of one of the best law enforcement agencies in the world. The wor Continue Reading...

Holder Should Focus on Terrorists, Not NYPD
There is simply no basis in fact for the Department of Justice to review the lawful surveillance techniques used by the New York City Police Department (NYPD) since the devastating attacks of 9/11. These surveillance techniques have thwarted 14 known terrorist attacks in New York City. As we reported last week, Attorney General Holder called the NYPD counterterrorism efforts "disturbing" and told Congress they are under review. What's troubling here is that Holder made serious charges against a Continue Reading...
