2012 Victories: Little Girl can say “God” in School Poem
This is the latest installment in a year-end series looking back at a few of the hundreds of victories by the ACLJ in 2012. Imagine your son or daughter is given an assignment in his or her second grade class, just like thousands of other students around the country, to write a short poem. Your young child decides to write a poem that mentions their love for God, yet their teacher scolds them. That is exactly what happened to one little girl when she wrote, “Love is the earth that God ma... Continue Reading

The Essentiality of Religious Argument in the Public Square
I just finished my second reading (the first was many years ago) of James McPherson’s outstanding single-volume history of the Civil War, Battle Cry of Freedom. The first time I read the book I was primarily interested in his take on the military history of the war. Was it a close-run conflict? Was the outcome inevitable? Obama’s Party Reinstates Language Acknowledging Jerusalem and God
After Obama’s DNC party platform removed all mention of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and even censored out any mention of “God,” Democrats caved to mounting pressure to reinstating both provisions. The ACLJ and thousands of Americans have demanded that President Obama and the Democratic Party recognize the simple reality that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel. As you can see in the video above, many delegates at the convention strongly opposed the move to reinstate th... Continue Reading

Reminders of the Fall; Evidence of Grace
Reminders of the Fall were all around us this weekend. Of course an entire nation mourned the massacre in Denver, but even more died — anonymously — in a horrific truck crash Sunday night in Texas. The sports world waited to see the NCAA’s verdict on Penn State’s malice and neglect, and as Israelis once again counted the cost of terror, the International Olympic Committee rubbed salt in old wounds by refusing to acknowledge the Games’ greatest tragedy. And that&rsqu... Continue Reading

NY School Bans "God Bless the USA" from Kindergarten Graduation Ceremony - Song Not "Age Appropriate"
One school in New York has made a decision that is simply outrageous. Planning is underway for a graduation ceremony June 20th for kindergarten students at one Coney Island school in Brooklyn. School officials are putting together the program. They had planned to play Lee Greenwood's popular "God Bless the USA" as a conclusion to a musical program. But, no. The principal stepped in and removed it from the program. Why? She simply said it's not "age appropriate." The ballad "God Bless the USA" w... Continue Reading
