ObamaCare Opposition Mounts - More Democrats Critical
The numbers have been very consistent. A majority of Americans surveyed have repeatedly rejected ObamaCare since it was pushed through Congress and signed into law by President Obama two years ago. This week, 56% of voters polled by Rasmussen said they want to see the flawed health care law repealed. And, now more members of Congress are lining to express their concern as well - including some prominent Democrats. Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA), one of President Obama's strongest allies, now says Ob Continue Reading...

Congress Investigates IRS Assault on Tea Party as “Beyond the Scope” and “Lacks Balance”
Congress has begun an investigation into intrusive and unconstitutional letters sent by the Obama Administration’s IRS to Tea Party and other conservative groups. Representatives Darrell Issa, Chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, and Jim Jordan, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Regulatory Affairs, Stimulus Oversight and Government Spending, have sent the IRS a letter demanding it account for its recent “overreach and selective enforcement” of rule Continue Reading...

House Strips Healthcare Rationing Panel from ObamaCare
On the eve of the Supreme Court oral arguments in the biggest constitutional case in decades, ObamaCare, Congress has taken steps to repeal another component of the unconstitutional law. As AFP reported, “The bill, adopted by lawmakers 223-181, including seven Democrats, would scrap a 15-member panel established to control costs for elderly beneficiaries of the government-run Medicare program.” This bill would remove the particularly dangerous healthcare rationing panel from ObamaC Continue Reading...

Nearly 200,000 Sign Petition Calling for Pastor Youcef’s Release
In just two weeks, more than 189,000 people signed on to the ACLJ’s Petition to Free Christian Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani. The petition called for Iran to release Pastor Youcef and urged Members of Congress to pass a resolution on his behalf. Last week Congress responded, unanimously passing H. Res. 556, and Senator Vitter has introduced a similar resolution in the Senate. You can still add your name to this critical petition, and urge the Senate to join the House in demanding Pastor Youce Continue Reading...

Youcef Nadarkhani’s Case Unites People Around Religious Liberty
The fight to save the life of Christian Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani, who has been sentenced to death in Iran for his faith, is truly uniting people of all faiths - atheists too - and political persuasions across the world. We have seen statements calling on Iran to release this persecuted pastor from President Obama’s White House, Secretary Clinton’s State Department, and Republican presidential campaigns. Governor Mitt Romney was one of the first political leaders to call for Pastor N Continue Reading...

Tweet for Youcef: The World is Listening
The ACLJ’s Tweet for Youcef social media campaign is growing exponentially as Pastor Youcef’s situation has become more dire. As we reported yesterday, sources in Iran believe the execution order for Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani – the Christian pastor convicted and sentenced to death for his faith – may have been issued. We can confirm that as of yesterday, Pastor Youcef was still alive. Yet, it is more critical now than ever that Pastor Youcef’s story – more th Continue Reading...

Pastor Youcef’s Life in Imminent Danger
We have just received word from our contacts on the ground in Iran of an extremely dangerous turn of events for Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani. There is an increased likelihood that the Iranian regime will execute Pastor Youcef for his faith. Pastor Youcef’s case had been stalled due to increased international pressure and the Iranian court’s request that Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, decide Pastor Youcef’s fate. Now, because Pastor Youcef has continually refused Continue Reading...

Congress Introduces Resolution in Support of Pastor Youcef
Representative Joe Pitts (PA-16), along with several other Members of Congress, just introduced a resolution today in Congress in support of Christian Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani. The resolution condemns “the Government of Iran for its continued persecution, imprisonment, and sentencing of Youcef Nadarkhani on the charge of apostasy,” and calls on the Iranian regime “to exonerate and immediately release Youcef Nadarkhani and all other individuals held or charged on account of the Continue Reading...

Senator Lee: The President Doesn’t Rule a Government of One
In the wake of President Obama’s unconstitutional nominations on January 4th, the ACLJ sent a letter to the U.S. Senate calling for a vigorous defense of the authorities granted to the Senate under the U.S. Constitution. While it’s disheartening that we’ve yet to see a concerted effort on the part of the Senate to respond to this blatant affront to the Constitution, it should be noted that one Senator in particular has recognized the gravity of the situation and shown strong l Continue Reading...
