American Pastor Saeed Released from Solitary Confinement, Returned to General Prison Population
After more than a week, including his 33rd birthday, spent in the “small dark hole” of solitary confinement, American Pastor Saeed Abedini has once again been returned to the main prison population in Ward 350 of Evin Prison. Our sources in Iran have confirmed that Iranian authorities returned Pastor Saeed to his cell in Ward 350 yesterday. This is a critical development and does raise hope after a very discouraging week. It was believed that Pastor Saeed may have faced 20 days or ... Continue Reading

U.S. Can't Win Peace by Funding Terrorists
Despite objections by members of Congress and the American people, President Obama is headed down a dangerous road by providing sequester-era stimulus for radical, anti-American foreign governments. . . . We are told we don't have enough money for White House tours and are cutting our military, yet we are sending hundreds of millions of our tax dollars to radical regimes overseas. This funding poses a significant threat to national security and stability in the Middle East. It is also an injus... Continue Reading

The Complete Idiot's Guide to Our Religious Heritage
As one of America’s most radical atheists sues to remove the National Motto -- “In God We Trust” – from our currency, I thought I’d bring back two of my favorite blog posts from the Washington Post. I wrote these when American Atheists sued to remove the Ground Zero Cross from the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, and the posts help illustrate the extent of our nation’s religious heritage – and the radicalism of those who seek to erase that heritage. Please en... Continue Reading

Will the State Department finally speak out for Pastor Saeed Abedini?
Last Friday’s standing-room only hearing before the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission was among the most dramatic I’ve witnessed. There was outrage – outrage not just from me as I declared the State Department “AWOL” in our quest to free an American Pastor, Saeed Abedini -- a U.S. citizen -- captured by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard and now held hostage in Iran’s most brutal prison – but also from the members of the Human Rights Commission. In his ... Continue Reading

Why has Obama's State Department Left an American Pastor Behind in Iran?
On Monday, March 11, at a crucial moment, the State Department turned its back on an American pastor imprisoned in Iran. In September of last year, Saeed Abedini – a U.S. citizen from Idaho – was arrested by Iran’s jihadist Revolutionary Guard when he was in Tehran helping build an orphanage. He was tortured, tried, convicted, and sentenced to eight years in Iran’s most brutal prison simply because of his Christian faith. In other words, he’s an American hostage. ... Continue Reading

EU Demands Pastor Saeed’s Release at UN, Where is the US?
Yesterday, despite the silence of the U.S. State Department, your voice was heard at the United Nations (U.N.) on behalf of imprisoned American Pastor Saeed Abedini. At the request of over 435,000 individuals around the world who signed our petition, the European Union (EU) demanded Iran release American Pastor Saeed at the U.N. Human Rights Council in Geneva. Our petition to the U.N., EU and Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights is making a tremendous impact, and Pastor Saeed’... Continue Reading

Pastor Saeed’s Wife: Iran Doesn’t “Know Who They’re Dealing With”
Pastor Saeed’s wife, Naghmeh, spoke with CBN News and Fox News in interviews that aired this past week, sharing her personal story. She shared about the struggle she and her two young children have faced here in the U.S. as her husband, Pastor Saeed, languishes in an Iranian prison because of his Christian faith. In the video above she shares how she first came to know and fall in love with Saeed, about the passion for Christ he exuded, and the struggle her family faces during this tryin... Continue Reading

Saeed’s Orphanage in Iran, the Hidden Casualty of his Wrongful Imprisonment
Not only is an American family without their husband and father, Iranian orphans are also being negatively impacted by the unlawful imprisonment of Pastor Saeed Abedini. Pastor Saeed was arrested on one of his many trips in recent years to Iran where he was working to establish an orphanage (pictured above) to help children in need. Now, because Saeed is wrongfully imprisoned, this orphanage can’t open. The dozen children this orphanage was intended to house and care for are left without... Continue Reading

Argo Takes Home Oscar, Yet American Hostage Still in Iran
Sunday night Argo took home the Oscar for best motion picture, but it’s impossible not to be reminded of another American hostage still trapped in Iran, Pastor Saeed Abedini. Argo portrays the daring escape of several of the American hostages taken by Iran in 1979. Hollywood and entertainment news are a buzz this week with talk of Iran and the American hostages. What shouldn’t be lost in all the attention garnered by this movie is that there is a real life American hostage current... Continue Reading

More on Iran and “Willful Blindness”
Jay’s Fox News op-ed is a must-read for those who are still wavering on the Chuck Hagel nomination. Let’s just put aside for the moment all the debate about his intemperate and offensive comments about Israel and focus on a core reality: Chuck Hagel argued for greater cooperation with Iran mere months after Iran committed acts of war against the United States: This expression of “common interests” and cooperation is staggering – especially considering the timing...
